Radio group ZER launches a station in Mexico City on 1650 AM

Zer logoXEARZ is a new station in the Mexican capital broadcasting on 1650 kHz mediumwave. The station is owned by Grupo Radiofónico ZER. XEARZ is licensed to transmit at a power of 5,000 watts day and night. DXer Héctor García Bojorge in Mexico City reported on the Grupo Radiofónico Zer Facebook page on April 27 that he heard the station, identifying it as XEARZ. Also on April 27, on DXLD mailing list, Julián Santiago Díez de Bonilla reported hearing the station identifying as "Zer Radio 1650" and giving call letters XEAZR. According to Wikipedia, the first test transmissions with instrumental music began on April 26. In the documents of the Mexican Telecommunications Commission CFT, the station manager is listed as Arnoldo Rodríguez Zermeño. Both of these sources give call letters as XEARZ.

Radio RTL from Chile on 910 kHz AM

Radio RTL logoRadio RTL from Talca, Chile, has recently begun broadcasts on 910 kHz mediumwave. RTL stands for Radio Tropical Latina. Radio RTL has previously transmitted on various FM frequencies. Future plans are to expand coverage in Linares, Cauquenes and Constitución, but there is no mention whether the new transmitters will be FM or AM. The station was first reported heard by DXer Miguel Castellino on the ConDig mailing list on April 5. FM frequency 95.5 was announced in connection with a newscast. The station does have a website at www.radiortl.cl but no email is given, only a web form to contact the station.

New Argentine X-band stations on 1610, 1640 and 1700 AM

Radio Regional logoRadio Regional is a new station in Argentina on 1610 kHz AM. Radio Regional broadcasts from Laboulaye, Provincia de Córdoba. Programming includes news, sports and current affairs, and Radio Nacional is relayed for eight hours daily. The station was first reported by Marcelo A. Cornachioni in the Grupo Radioescucha Argentino blog on April 20. Cornachioni reports the slogan as "La radio que vino para quedarse". Radio Regional is located at Calle Presidente Gral. Julio A. Roca 36, Laboulaye, Provincia de Córdoba, Argentina. You can send them email or call the station at (03385) 425-199.
      Also on the X band, Radio Guarani from somewhere in the Buenos Aires area has begun broadcasts on 1640 kHz. The station was first reported heard by Jose Kucher on RealDX mailing list on May 6.
      One more fairly new X-band station in Argentina is Radio AK in Tigre, near Buenos Aires, on 1700 kHz. Radio AK, "La Radio del Nordelta" retransmits programming from FM 89.9. Radio AK can be contacted by email, by calling at 5368-0105 (no area code given), or by writing to Avenida de Mayo 560, piso 3, oficina 27, Buenos Aires. Radio AK was first reported heard by Alf Årdal on May 2 and identified by Rocco Cotroneo on RealDX mailing list.
      Also on the X-band, Diagonal AM 1630 has replaced now defunct Radio 1630 AM in La Plata.
