CJRS Radio Shalom testing in Canada on 1650 kHz

CJRS logoCanada’s first multilingual Jewish radio station has begun test transmissions in Montréal, Canada. CJRS "Radio Shalom" broadcasts on the frequency of 1650 kHz mediumwave with 1 kW of power. The first test transmissions were reported heard by several DXers in North America on February 20 and 21. Regular broadcasts are due to begin in March. CJRS broadcasts 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in English, French and Hebrew. The station describes itself as a non-profit community radio station. CJRS can be reached by email.

Radio Aripalca from Bolivia on 4728 kHz shortwave

Radio Aripalca from the town of Aripalca in Bolivia has been observed broadcasting on 4728.2 kHz on the 60 meter shortwave band. More precisely, the station is located in Aripalca, Municipio de Vitichi, Provincia Nor Chichas, Departamento de Potosi, in Bolivia. Arnaldo Slaen in Argentina has heard the station on several days starting January 20, signing on at 1035 or at 1055 UTC. The station was first identified as Radio Aripalca by Bolivian DXer Rogildo Aragão on February 13.

Radio Amor de Dios from Bolivia reported on shortwave

A station identifying as Radio Amor de Dios from Bolivia has been observed broadcasting on 6214 kHz shortwave. The station is broadcasting from El Alto, La Paz, in the Quechua language. Radio Amor de Dios was first reported heard by Peruvian DXer Alfredo Cañote, and announced on the Condig mailing list on February 1. In neighboring Argentina, Radio Baluarte is transmitting on roughly the same frequency.

KTRB launched in the San Francisco Bay Area on 860 AM

KTRB Modesto CA has launched a new transmitter, improving its coverage in the San Francisco Bay Area in the United States. KTRB is broadcasting on 860 kHz on the mediumwave (AM) band. For a month starting February 1, KTRB will be broadcasting music from the 1960's and 70's, and is still considering what its permanent format from March 1 will be. KTRB operates a new transmitter in Livermore, located between Modesto and the Bay Area. Eventually the station hopes to have a separate transmitter near Vallejo for daytime broadcasting.
