QSL policy Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, UAE

Postby Dick Van Der Knaap on Wed May 01, 2002 1348 UTC

Hello There,

Wonder if anyone recently received QSL's from what might be called
'external service' from Radio Jordan, Radio Kuwait, Sult.of Oman Radio
and United Arab Emirates radio.
These stations transmit all on shortwave, some of them even in English
with an external news service.
Some of them also invite listeners to write.
Unfortunatly I did not get any reply from these stations, so I wonder if
they really QSL or not??

I can still remember the day that Radio Damascus send me a QSL via
registered mail!

UAE QSLs

Postby Eric Larson on Mon May 20, 2002 0204 UTC

Passport to World Band Radio said the UAE station "replies
irregularly". I sent a report anyway in October 2001 and I'm
still awaiting a reply. There was a recent article in Monitoring
Times about Middle East International Broadcasters. I think it
was in the September, 2001 edition. I remember the article
discussed which stations reply most consistently but I don't
recall what was said about the stations you listed.

Radio Jordan has a interesting programme called friends abroad, I've listened it few times, and there they have mentioned, that they have sent some kind of reply for those, whose letters were read on programme...
to me, they haven't answerred. but I will send a new report, perhaps they will answer then:)

I sent UAE Radio a report on 13th January. I picked up their 16:30 UTC broadcast on 13675 kHz. News was in English. So far I haven't received anything.

My only middle eastern QSL

Postby Adam Smith on Fri Aug 15, 2003 1500 UTC

Not counting Voice of Greece who QSL nicely, I once waited over a year to get a response from Radio Damascus Syria. It came in a plain brown wrapper and the only thing NOT in Arabic on it was my name and address!

They sent stickers, newspaper and QSL. Very nice.

Other than that, no luck QSLing the Middle East, which I would very much so like to do.

Any more successes?

I have a reply from Oman!

Postby Eric ZHou on Tue Oct 14, 2003 1818 UTC

Hi Dick,

I am so lucky that I got an orange QSL card from Radio Sultanate of Oman in this Spring. I sent a reception report on this station's English broadcast dated March 8 by email on March 9 and received a reply on March 30! Very nice!

Best regards from China! :D
